The Project – Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa Limerick

The Client is a state Education and Training authority for the region who wished to host a very large Apprenticeship Exhibition Event. The November event gave students the opportunity to come to hear from expert speakers and leading organisations in many industry sectors offering apprenticeship programmes.
When evaluating the venue, the essential criteria listed for the choice in venue was an easily accessible location with ample space for exhibition , catering needs, syndicate spaces along with large coach parking facilities.
The event took place in one day and required space to host a very large Exhibition, 1200 attendees through the day and to provide catering for all attendees.


The Solution

The Exhibition was hosted in our Ryan Suites ballroom with over 622 square metres of Exhibition space. In addition, to provide additional space , we hired a large Marquee and placed within metres of our ballroom.  The Marquee served as the registration & holding area for attendees on arrival before entering the exhibition space for their allocated time slots. We placed our Food truck “ The Snack Shack” beside the Marquee offering tea, coffees & light refreshments for waiting attendees.

All additional catering including Buffet lunch was offered on a rolling basis from our Brasserie Restaurant, Quench Bar and main lobby areas.

The Hotel has over 350 complimentary car park spaces and large coach parking ensuring that all arrivals had adequate parking. Our team successfully monitored & managed the parking ensuring all went smoothly.

Having all conference & dining space located on one level was also very advantageous and allowed for greater enjoyment & social interaction.

Additional syndicate suites also located on ground /lobby level were used for rolling briefings to attendees.


The Challenges

In order to provide the additional requests for the large volume of attendees the following additional services were provided :

In consultation with the client, additional power sockets , additional 3 phase power sockets & wiring works were under taken to provide all Exhibition holders with their required needs.

We spoke with our Wi/Fi provider and had additional broadband capacity boosted for the date to ensure adequate service was available for the larger numbers on site. Additional wired internet ports were also added to the main exhibition space for exhibitors.

The additional challenge of creating additional space was solved by hiring the marquee. Additional generators were sourced to run power, lighting & heating to make the space as comfortable as possible.


The Outcome

The client, Exhibitors & attendees were very happy with the venue & services. The available space allowed for great networking and created a fun atmosphere.

Thanks to great hotel team collaboration , provision and execution of all additional services requested for the event by the client were actioned and sourced by the hotel team leaving the client free to concentrate on their clients & attendees.

The client has re-booked the event for 2023 and is extending it over 2 days to allow for larger numbers to attend.
